چکیده
The study was aimed at understanding the nature and pattern of serum lactate, cardiac troponin I changes associated with acute Trypanosoma brucei infection dogs. It also seeks to investigate usefulness these biomarkers in monitoring disease progression predicting mortality. Twenty healthy adult dogs both sexes were used for study. All intra-peritoneally inoculated 1ml phosphate buffered saline diluted blood containing 1x106 Lafenwa strain T. brucei. I, potassium, sodium, chloride bicarbonate monitored before 16 24 days after infection. There a progressive increase values potassium various A significant association found between lactate heart rate, I. This result has shown that there could be myocardial damage due hypoxia anemia hypo-perfusion canine African trypanosomiasis. help severity outcome Canine Trypanosomiasis. Serum cardiac troponin I in canine syncope and seizures.
OBJECTIVE To determine if serum cardiac troponin I (cTnI) concentration distinguishes between cardiogenic syncope and collapsing dogs presenting with either generalized epileptic seizures (both with and without cardiac disease) or vasovagal syncope. ANIMALS Seventy-nine prospectively recruited dogs, grouped according to aetiology of collapse: generalized epileptic seizures (group E), cardioge...
متن کاملCardiac Troponin I and T as Prognostic Markers in Cats with Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy
BACKGROUND Myocardial injury detected by cardiac troponin I and T (cTnI and cTnT) in cardiac disease is associated with increased risk of death in humans and dogs. HYPOTHESIS Presence of myocardial injury predicts long-term death in cats with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM), and ongoing myocardial injury reflects change in left ventricular wall thickness over time. ANIMALS Thirty-six cats...
متن کاملSertraline alters level of adenosine deaminase activity, oxidative stress markers and cardiac biomarkers (homocysteine cardiac troponin I) in rats
The aim of this study is whether oxidative stress markers, homocysteine (Hcy), cardiac troponin I (cTnI) and the activity of adenosine deaminase (ADA) alter following administration of different doses of sertraline. Sixty male Wistar rats were assigned into four groups. Sertraline at doses of 20, 40 and 80 mg / kg / day) were administered to three groups through gastric gavage for 90 days. The ...
متن کاملCardiac troponin I levels in canine pyometra
BACKGROUND Myocardial injury may contribute to unexpected deaths due to pyometra. To detect myocardial damage, measurement of cardiac troponin I (cTnI) is currently the most sensitive and specific method. The aims of the present study were to evaluate presence of myocardial damage in canine pyometra by analysis of cTnI, to explore whether myocardial injury was associated with systemic inflammat...
متن کاملDegradation of cardiac troponin I in serum complicates comparisons of cardiac troponin I assays.
BACKGROUND Up to a 20-fold variation in serum cardiac troponin I (cTnI) concentration may be observed for a given patient sample with different analytical methods. Because more limited variation is seen for control materials and for purified cTnI, we explored the possibility that cTnI was present in altered forms in serum. METHODS We used four recombinantly engineered cTnI fragments to study ...
